Asian & American Art Foundation (526 West 26th Street, Suite 211, NYC) is pleased to present The Work of Transformation: Mikyung Kim, 1980–2026, a solo exhibition surveying more than four decades of the Korean-born, New York–based conceptual artist’s practice. Bringing together works from 1980 to the present, the exhibition traces an artistic life shaped by continuous transformation—of material, thought, time, and self. Rather than following a single stylistic trajectory, Kim’s work reveals an evolving conceptual language in which personal experience, cultural memory, and philosophical inquiry continually intersect.
The exhibition will be on view from October 7 through November 5, 2026, with an opening reception with the artist on Thursday, October 8, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Kim arrived in New York in 1979 and received her MFA from Pratt Institute after completing her BFA at Seoul National University. Over the following decades, she developed a multidisciplinary practice encompassing sculpture, installation, drawing, and process-based work. While her materials and methodologies have continually shifted, her work maintains a persistent inquiry into ritual, time, the body, nature, memory, and the unseen structures that shape human existence. Between Two Lights

Asian & American Art Foundation, 526 West 26th Street, Suite 211, NYC is pleased to present Between Two Lights: HeeKyung Chung a solo exhibition exploring the artist’s sustained investigation of light as both a visual phenomenon and a metaphor for inner experience, spirituality, and hope. This exhibition will run from Nov. 6 -30, 2026 with an opening reception on Thursday Nov. 12th from 6-8 pm.
Since 2014, Korean artist HeeKyung Chung has developed her ongoing Whispering Light series through oil and acrylic paintings that vary widely in form and structure. Luminous fields of dots, rhythmic grids, geometric forms, and atmospheric clusters evoke both microscopic worlds and distant celestial bodies suspended in cosmic space. Moving between flatness and depth, stillness and movement, her paintings transform light into a meditative visual language.
The title Between Two Lights reflects the cultural and philosophical currents that converge in Chung’s practice. Her work draws upon an Eastern sensibility rooted in harmony, balance, repetition, and contemplative stillness, while also engaging Western traditions in which light creates depth, contrast, and spiritual symbolism. Rather than treating these traditions as opposites, Chung brings them together within a single visual field.
